General Information

Dear ESVCP 2022 ECVCP Delegate,

Welcome to Belgrade for the 24th Annual Congress of the European Society / College of Veterinary Clinical Pathology. Please find below useful information.

Congress: October 6-8, 2022

Venue

Metropol Palace Hotel, Bulevar Kralja Aleksandra 69, 11000 Belgrade, Serbia

Language

English is the official language of the ESVCP 2022 ECVCP.

Registration

The Registration desk will be located in front of the conference rooms. The working hours of the registration:

  • Wednesday, October 5 – 16:00-19:30 (Pre-Congress: from 8:00)
  • Thursday, October 6 – 07:30-18:30
  • Friday, October 7 – 08:30-18:30
  • Saturday, October 8 – 08:30-13:00

As the ESVCP Congress returns as a live, face-to-face event, the Board is committed to making environmental sustainability core to its operations.
Differences at this year’s Congress, including:

  • No printed ESVCP programmes or flyers
  • No complimentary delegate bags containing industry flyers, pens, and gadgets
  • No plastic bottles
  • Reduced printed signage

We encourage both delegates and industry colleagues to help us with this initiative during the days of the Congress.
Ways that you can help include:

  • Bring your own bag, pen, anything else you may need throughout the day
  • Photograph business cards or flyers instead of taking a copy
  • Use the Congress as an opportunity to arrange as many meetings as you can with international colleagues, thus reducing the need to take separate flights in the future.

Congress Material

The Congress will be a paperless environment. All material will only be available on the website at
https://www.esvcp-belgrade.rs.

Lectures

All lecture halls are located on the same floor of the hotel. Rooms for lectures are Room Ivo Andric B and Lavender Room.

Instructions for presenters

Oral presentations

If you do not follow the instructions below, we cannot be held responsible for your presentation.

Before the Congress

To maximize the effectiveness of your presentation, please use PowerPoint, 16:9 aspect ratio.

  • Use a minimum of text on the page. As a rule of thumb, for readability there should be no more than 30 letters per line and 12 lines.
  • Graphs often speak louder than words.

At the Congress

  • Please give your presentation to the technician (check the room in Programme where you will have to deliver lecture), at least one hour before the presentation.
  • Be in the congress hall 15 minutes before the start of the session to meet the chairman and other speakers. Provide all necessary information to the chairperson for the introduction (you can prepare a few sentences to be announced by the chairperson). Check the allotted time for the oral presentation in Programme.
  • Stick to the program schedule so that the chairperson of the session does not interrupt you in your presentation.

Only authors who have paid the registration fee have the right to present accepted works.

Poster Presentations

Poster presentations take place in the Exhibition Hall Ivo Andric A at the venue, from Thursday through Saturday, October 6-8.

Before the Congress

Instructions for the preparation of posters:

  • Posters should be printed in portrait orientation, maximum size: 1200mm (Height) x 900mm (Width) / 47.2in (Height) x 35.4in (Width), on thin paper. The title, authors, and institutions should be listed at the top of the poster. The letters in the title must be at least 3 cm. The poster should be self-explanatory.
  • Please check the number of your poster in the Final Program that you will receive during registration.
  • Please place your poster on the poster board with your poster number assigned by the Organizer.
  • Do not leave anything on the floor near or under the poster.
  • The Organizer will provide double-sided tape for sticking the poster on the board.

At the Congress

The posters will be displayed in the Ivo Andric A exhibition hall. Placing the poster usually takes at least 15 minutes.

Poster placement

Posters should be mounted on Thursday, October 6 from 8:30 until 10:30 using material provided by the organizers. Please use the poster board that bears the number of your presentation as listed in the program. Poster authors must be present next to their poster at the time of the poster presentation, in order to answer the participant’s questions. The posters will be viewed during the coffee breaks. Authors attendance at their posters is requested as listed below:

  • Thursday, October 6: 10:30 – 11:00 and 16:00-16:30
  • Friday, October 7: 10:30 – 11:00 and 16:00-16:30
  • Saturday, October 8: 10:30 – 11:00.

Remove poster

Posters must be removed on Saturday, October 8 as soon as the lectures are over, any material left behind will be discarded.
Posters that the authors do not take down, will be removed and destroyed. Putting up and removing the poster is the responsibility of the presenter only.
The organizer assumes no responsibility for the content published on the poster.

Exhibition

The Exhibition will be located in the conference room Ivo Andric A of the Metropol Palace Hotel. Exhibition hours:

  • Wednesday, October 5 – 18:00-19:30
  • Thursday, October 6 – 08:30-17:00
  • Friday, October 7 – 08:30-17:00
  • Saturday, October 8 – 08:30-13:00

Badge

An identification badge will be provided upon registration. There will be no admittance to the scientific sessions without the badge. Please note that a charge of 30€ will be made onsite in case of losing your name badge.

Proceedings

Proceedings will be available for downloading at the www.esvcp-belgrade.rs.

Certificate of attendance

A certificate of attendance will be provided to all registered attendants after the Congress. For Serbian participants, it is possible to earn up to 14 points depending on the number of days registered for participation in the Congress!

Coffee breaks

Coffee stations will be provided in Exhibition Room – Ivo Andrić A and will be served according to the official ESVCP 2022 ECVCP program.

Social Programme

  • Welcome Reception

Price: Free for registered delegates
All registered delegates are kindly invited to the Welcome Reception. Enjoy a finger food cocktail and drinks with your colleagues.

  • Congress Dinner

Date: Friday, October 07, 2022
Time: 20:00 – 00:00
Place: Reka Restaurant, Kej Oslobodjenje 73b, Zemun
Music: Live band
Transport: The bus will be organized from hotel at 18:45 to the restaurant, with short sightseeing of Belgrade. The return is in private regime.
Price: 50€ per person (VAT included)
* Food and unlimited drinks for 4 hours
Experience unique Belgrade riverside night life and enjoy dinner and a night with live music.

COVID-19 – Entry Conditions

There are no restrictions on entering the Republic of Serbia. The recommendation to wear masks indoors remains in force, while wearing masks in health facilities is mandatory.

WiFi

The free WiFi is provided in all working areas of the congress.

Time Zone

The time zone in Serbia is Central European Time (CET) (UTC plus 1 hour).

Airport transfer

For all information, please contact the city service TAXIINFO, located in the baggage claim area at Nikola Tesla Airport. At the airport Info Desk, you will get the taxi receipt (voucher) specifying the desired destination and the price for taxi service. That way you will make sure the taxi service is in line with the most favourable rate. Payment options: Serbian Dinars, Credit Cards, and Euros.

City transportation / Taxi

There is a good public transport system in Belgrade. Most buses operate until midnight. Tickets can be pre-purchased from newsstands or paid on bord contactless using Mastercard. Ticket price is 89,00 RSD. Bus lines 31, 48, 65, 74, A1, as well as tram lines 7, 12 and 14 connect the Metropol Palace Hotel with the City. Taxis are usually available outside the Hotel. Approximate price from venue to City centre is 4,00 €-7,00 € per car.

Parking

There is a parking lot in front of the hotel and a garage. Price is 1,70 € per hour or 15,00 € for the whole day. Before you leave, you need to void your ticket and pay at the front office desk. There is also a public parking opposite of the hotel.

Telephone Code

To call a foreign country from Belgrade, please dial the international code 00, then the country area code, the city area code (without 0) and, finally, the telephone number of the subscriber.

Roaming

Be aware that the higher roaming costs may be applied to your cell phone bill, as there is no roaming agreement between Serbia and EU. This does not apply to the Western Balkan countries. Please contact your mobile provider prior yor trip to get more information on the roaming prices during your stay in Serbia.

Currency

The Serbian currency is the Serbian Dinar (RSD). Credit cards (Visa, Eurocard, MasterCard) are accepted in most shops, and ATMs are widely available in downtown Belgrade. You can use Visa, Visa Electron, Plus, MasterCard, Eurocard, Maestro and Cirrus branded cards to withdraw money from an ATM. Belgrade ATMs require 4-digit pin codes. At the exchange offices there is no commission, and it is 116-117,50 RSD for 1 Euro.

Electricity

As in most cities of continental Europe, the electricity voltage in Belgrade is 220 V. Electrical outlets are standard European.

Water

Tap water in Belgrade is safe to drink.

Insurance and Liability

ESVCP 2022 ECVCP Secretariat and Organizers cannot accept responsibility for personal injury or for loss or damage involving persons and property either during or indirectly arising from the meeting. Participants are advised to make their own arrangements with respect to health and travel insurance.

Weather in Belgrade in October

The average minimum temperature (usually the minimum temperature is noted during the night) in Belgrade in October is 9.5°C (49.1°F). The amount of rain in October is normal with an average of 50mm (2.0in). It rains on average a total of 12 days. The average maximum daytime temperature lies around 18.7°C (65.66°F).
